Our July began by announcing upcoming shows, including Randy Rain’s show on July 26, Dal Sanders at the Comedy Arena on August 2, and the Summer Splash on July 27.
We also discussed the free close-up magic show July 28 at the Illusion Warehouse. Our own Caleb Westeen was one of the performers for that show.
Eric Hogue discussed registration challenges facing TAOM and their upcoming convention. At the time of
our meeting, there were only 52 registrations. Of course, they will need many more registrations to
cover costs.
President George Ferrin, Dan Rosenberg Matthew Welsbey and others discussed the IBM convention
and the astounding showing the Dallas Magic Club hat at that convention.
The club also discussed Potential lectures by David Seebach and James and Marina from Mind to Mind
(FISM Winners), approving $250 for the former.
The first part of the program featured members who shared their experiences with famous magicians.
Eric Hogue discussed David Copperfield, Geoff Grimes talked about his friendship with Mark Wilson and Mike Smith discussed Jeff McBride.

Daryl Howard talked about how Eugene Burger influenced his career. Jeff Lee discussed his longtime friendship with FISM Winner, Vito Lupo and Robert Young talked about the famous magicians he has met at Abbott’s. That was followed by Dan Rosenberg recounting the time he competed at Abbott’s in 1977 when he was only 13. In that contest, Dan was up against Lance Burton, Mac King and Jeff Hobson. He also met Neil Foster at that convention…Neil was running the contest. Of course, Dan lost that competition.
After a short break, we moved on to the Open Mic. This began with Shawn Messonnier – (Master of ceremonies), who shared his magician autograph collection. Jeff Grimes – Performed an an egg bag routine. Russell Turner – Performed a magic show vanishing cola, with appearing and color-changing flowers along with a ball trick. Finally, George Ferrin and others showed off a few tricks recently purchased at the conference in Houston.
