Dallas – A Magic Community Like No Other

Another Magic Live has come and gone, and one thing it reminded me of is just how fortunate we are here in Texas, especially in Dallas.
I’ve had a unique magic journey, traveling through New York, California, spending time in Las Vegas, and finally landing here in Dallas. Each city offered its own flavor of magic, but it wasn’t until recently that I realized how fortunate we are in Texas.
At Magic Live, I sat with friends from across the country and the world, comparing notes on our local scenes. What I heard shocked me. Many magicians spoke of their magic communities in the past tense—jam sessions that had faded away, clubs that no longer met, gatherings that had grown sparse.
Sure, Las Vegas has an endless supply of magicians, and Paris and London are legendary for their magic culture. But when it comes to a genuine community, I’d put Dallas toe-to-toe with any of them.

Dallas sent more than 30 magicians to Magic Live, not even counting the dozens who once called Texas home. Week to week, we have an embarrassment of riches: Monday Magic, Tuesdays offer Magic in the Living Room, Mid-Cities Magic and the Dallas Magic Club. We also have Bizarre Magic, Fort Worth Magicians Club, The Alliance of Illusionists, Illusion Warehouse, Magic Etc., the retired magicians’ meet-ups, the Mark Wilson Club, the Peacock, and the list goes on.

Dallas isn’t just a place where magic happens. It’s a place where magicians connect, grow, and build something bigger together…and it has been this for over 100 years. It’s a place where the Art of Magic thrives because the community thrives. And in my journey through magic, I can say that’s something truly rare.
